The Recruit Night Dinner will take place on Thursday March 1st, 6:30PM at AKO. Dinner will be provided by Stars of the Game (pizza, pasta, salad and beverage). Casual attire.
Fratmen Linebacker to Tackle the Big Screen
“Tony and Tina’s Wedding” actor Shaun Mazzocca signs with top Toronto agent, AMP Talent Group’s Anne Marie Perrault. Reprising the role of Michael Just, with DAG Productions (Detroit Actors Guild) and directed by Rosalie Bellanca.
Landing his first episodic television role on Cineflix Productions TV series entitled Cold Blood, Shaun will appear in season 4, episode 4 entitled “Colaninno”, as Wayne Lefleur.
Shaun soon began working with director, Gavin Booth, on an original film entitled A Most Useless Place, and a very bloody, vampire-themed music video for the hit single, Behave by Toronto artist Robyn Dell’Unto.
From the CJFL football field, to the stage, to the camera. Shaun’s first show, Oliver!, produced by Raisbeck Theatre Company in his hometown of Windsor, Ontario. Shaun trained as a young actor in summer drama programs with Raisbeck Productions.
Shaun played various roles on the stage including the troubled juvenile, Ralph Herdman in The Best Christmas Pageant Ever!; one of the too-cool-for-school T- Birds in Grease; and the rough, tough, passionate character of Riff in West Side Story, directed by Brian Raisbeck of Theatre Alive.
While studying Psychology/Biochemistry at the University of Windsor, Shaun collaborated with screenwriter/director, and technical director at Disney Pixar, Corey Mayne. Corey recruited Shaun as an actor for his film-school short entitled The Hunt. In The Hunt, Shaun portrays a comical red-neck character helping his girlfriend desperately hunt down Bigfoot. Three years later, Shaun was secured again as the lead actor for a trailer being filmed in order to pitch his original feature thriller entitled, Keener. Filmed mainly in front of blue-screen, Shaun portrayed the role of Desmond, a naïve young doctor. Shaun said he had a great time portraying the character’s moral struggle to refrain from taking the lives of his patients, or to kill them during surgery in order to meet with the spirit he drunkenly stumbled upon and fell in love with – a spirit that appears in the event of a death, to sing for the lost soul. Keener is currently in development stages in Los Angeles, California.
Playing lead characters Steven Berman – a greasy, two-timing divorce lawyer that slept with the wives of his clients in the dark comedy, Defiant!, and J.D. – a sensitive young man that finds himself tricked into becoming the surrogate sperm donor for three pretend-lesbians in the romantic comedy The Motherhood Project. Both productions directed by Windsor’s, Rob Tymec.
Shaun says he has just wrapped up a role as a shameless, short-tempered, vulgar, beer-league softball all-star named Kurt in the feature film entitled Softballs, by writers/directors, Steve Shilson, and Matt O’Neil. The film is set to release in Windsor, spring 2012.
Since completing his Psychology degree, and signing with Toronto based AMP Talent Group’s agent, Anne Marie Perrault, Shaun says he has finally able to completely embrace his dream of acting. His agent, Anne Marie Perrault says’ “Shaun’s unparalleled personality, along with the use of his body, voice, and good looks give him an arsenal of versatility in the characters he plays. His drive is that of an athlete being scouted for “the big show”, and he plays like there is no plan B”. We say look out for this devilishly charming, overgrown boy scout of an actor as he barrels his way into the lights, camera, and end zone action of Canada’s film industry!

AKO – OFC Regular Season Champs
In a game that had a major playoff atmosphere at Alumni Field, AKO took a 3-0 lead when K Dan Colella (1st year, Holy Names HS) connected on a 38-yard. It would remain that way until an AKO miscue gave Hamilton the ball deep in AKO territory. Two plays later, RB Troy Croonen scampered untouched in to the end zone for a 7-3 lead with K Chris Bartolomeo's PAT. The Hurricanes added to their lead when PR Stephen Jordan returned a punt 61 yards for a TD. Bartolomeo's PAT made it 14-3 Hurricanes.
The Fratmen looked battered and beaten heading in to the locker room at the half down 14-3 to the Hurricanes, the third time this season AKO trailed at the half. AKO exploded for two touchdowns in a 41 second span early in the third to take a 17-14 lead.
SB Joel Archer (3rd year, Herman HS) scored the first AKO touchdown on a 59 yard pass from QB Christian Hackney (2nd year, Sandwich SS). Colella made the PAT, and AKO had cut the deficit to 14-10. It didn't take long, 41 seconds to be exact, for the Fratmen to take the lead . Hackney hit WR Trevor Pomarenski (1st year, Maples Collegiate, Winnipeg, Manitoba) on a 6 yard pass giving AKO a 17-14 lead with Colella's PAT. AKO struck again before the 3rd quarter was over, and it was RB Beau Lumley (1st year, Herman HS) who did most of the work rushing the ball down to the Hamilton 1 yard line. From their, Archer to the hand-off and muscled his way in for the major. Colella's PAT gave AKO 21 3rd quarter points and a 24-14 lead heading into the 4th.
Just 3:52 into the 4th, AKO extended their lead to 27-14on a 22-yard FG by Colella. Hamilton put a scare into the crowd by driving and scoring when QB Matt Francis hit WR Dan Iafrate with just 2:03 to play. Bartolomeo mad the PAT and AKO's lead was cut to 27-21. After an AKO punt gave Hamilton the ball deep in their own territory. They weren't able to muster much of drive with only 15.1 seconds on the clock and the game ended when DB's Richard Veenstra (1st year, Massey SS) and Jake Nicoletti (1st year, Sandwich SS) combined to tackle the Hurricanes WR in bounds as time expired.

Fratmen Make it 3 in a Row
The Windsor AKO Fratmen went on the road to Nelson Stadium in Burlington and came out winners by a score of 28-14.
It was another slow start for the Fratmen, as they trailed 3-0 early on. It was late in the first quarter when the Fratmen finally got it going, and it was QB Christian Hackney hooking up with WR Derrick Hurst on a 55 yard scoring pass. Dan Colella made the convert, and AKO led 7-3 after 1 quarter of play. In the second quarter, the Braves turned the tide and pinned AKO back on several occasions. The Braves would eventually grab a 13-7 lead on a 1-yard scoring plunge with the ensuing convert, as well as a single on a missed FG, and AKO conceded a safety touch. With the score now 13-7, SB Joel Archer scored on an 89-yard run play, and with the extra point by Colella it was 14-13 Fratmen. The Braves managed to get even before the half ended when a missed FG could not be run out of the end zone resulting in a rouge and a 14-14 tie. In the second half it was all AKO, as they took the ball to start the 3rd quarter and drove down to the Burlington 30 yard line before settling for a Dan Colella 38 yard FG. After getting an interception by Jake Nicoletti, AKO drove down to the Braves 1 yard line before an 'Illegal Substitution -- Too Many Men' penalty pushed them back to the 11 yard line, where they settled for another FG by Colella, this one from 18 yards out. With the score now 20-14 for AKO, it was RB Beau Lumley's turn to reach the end zone. Beau took a handoff 33 yards to pay dirt making the score 26-14. Coach LaChance elected to go for the 2-pt. convert, and it was Hackney hooking up with Hurst again, this time for the 2 points. That extended the lead for AKO to 28-14. In the 4th quarter neither team could really sustain any drives, and Burlington went for it on 3rd down deep in AKO territory. There desperation pass from QB Spagnuolo went incomplete and AKO took over on downs. The Fratmen were able to run out the remainder of the clock, using Lumley, Archer, and the power run game of Alex Gouin. With the win, AKO improves to 3-0, while Burlington drops to 1-3. Next week, AKO welcomes in the Twin Cities Predators (1-3), for a Saturday night 7:35 kickoff at Alumni Field
